Inspired by actual events in which Joseph and Etienne Montgolfier actually launched a hot air balloon with three passengers-a sheep, a duck, and a rooster. All three survived the eight-minute flight, which paved the way for future flight experiments with animals and started a ballooning craze in France in the late 1700s. After the initial flight, the sheep was sent to live with Marie Antoinette's animal menagerie at Versailles. Thirty pages, not numbered, with watercolor illustrations by the author.: 08501:
