The carnival rolls into a small Kentucky town and the fraudulent operators set about taking the crowd's money. Set against this backdrop is a love story between two of the performers who are different from the rest and try to live their lives away from the carnival. The author was himself a fire-eater and roustabout in the carnival. This is his second novel.
