Dark blue faux leather with silver lettering and all page edges in dark blue. Housed in a pictorial slipcase from the publisher, light wear to the corners. First Edition, limited to 3000 copies, of which this is number 2554. 192 pages, with General Index, as well as indexes for Individual Locomotives and Locomotive Classes. More than 300 illustrations, about a third of which are in full color. 150 years of history (1825-1975) starting with the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1825. Though not entirely by design, the celebration became a tribute to the largest working steam preservation movement in the world.
