Price: $75.00

Book Condition: Very Good

3.5 X 5.5 inches. Real photo post card (RPPC) with light wear, postally used with a 3-bar cancellation from Ross, Wyoming, a discontinued Post Office (DPO). The image includes school children and teachers in three groups around the school building. The sender wrote at the top of the postcard "Ross Wyo" and "Dec 16, 1907." On the reverse side, in addition to a message to the recipient in Fort Benton, Montana, the sender wrote at the top "Central School." Central School opened in 1891 and was demolished in 1910 to make way for what became Washington School. In turn, it was demolished in 1964 and Wyoming National Bank built on the site (Durbin and 1st) now occupied by Wells Fargo Bank. The image of the original school building at that site, Casper's first public school, appears to be rather scarce to the market as well as institutional holdings, with Casper College Western History Center being the only source we could locate.
