A memoir of one of the many families connected with the celebrated Gaines case in New Orleans. Between 1834 and 1890, the Myra Clark Gaines Case went to the Louisiana Supreme Court five times and to the United States Supreme Court seventeen times, making it the longest-running lawsuit in the history of the United States Supreme Court.
