Green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and front cover. Decorated with a pink flamingo on the front cover and a bird in flight blind-stamped to the spine. Top edge in gilt. Shelf wear and wear to the corners and spine ends. Previous owner bookplate inside front cover. Loose signature, which includes the Preface, Table of Contents, and part of the Introduction. Page 3 and the facing page (photograph, not page numbered) show a printing error at the top of the page, where parts of pages 6 and 7 are printed upside down. When you turn to pages 6 and 7, that top portion is missing. Similarly, the top lines of text on pages 10 and 11 are missing, but are not found printed elsewhere. See photos for this listing addressing that error. 432 pages with separate indexes for illustrations and text. Illustrated with 250 black and white photographs from the author. The Introduction deals with photography, such as the type of camera used (a reflecting camera of the "Graflex" type and a tripod camera, each with a bellows length of fifteen inches and carrying plates four by five inches), and erecting a blind from which to take the photographs. The contents are presented in eight parts: PART I. Travels About Home, PART II. The Bird-Life of Two Atlantic Coast Islands, Part III. Florida Bird-Life, PART IV. Bahama Bird-Life, Part V. The Story of Three Western Bird Groups, Part VI. Bird Studies at California, Part VII. Bird-Life in Western Canada, and PART VIII. Impressions of English Bird-Life.
